Victim Support Worker – Sexual Assault Services

We are looking for a part time temporary 30 hours per week Victim Support Worker from January 5, 2026 to April 30, 2026 (with a possibility of extension) at $30.75/hour (rate dependent on HSA negotiations)

Expected Start Date: January 5, 2026

Days and Times of Work: Required days-Monday & Tuesday, flexible other days

This position requires union membership with the Health Sciences Association of BC (HSABC)

Duties Include

  • Provide trauma-informed and culturally safe victim support services to individuals who have experienced sexual assault
  • Liaise with RCMP, Crown Counsel, Community Agencies
  • Provide practical and emotional support as needed – this support may include:
    • facilitating access to medical care and forensic exams
    • accompaniment to appointments
    • safety planning
    • assistance with completion of CJS forms and documents
    • providing guidance and information about the criminal justice system
    • advocating for victim rights in the court process
    • servicing as a liaison and support with the criminal justice system
    • court preparation and accompaniment
    • information and referral
    • coordination of community responses
  • Case management and coordination
  • Other duties as required

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to work well with people and provide support and advocacy
  • Knowledge and understanding of the impact of sexual assault
  • Clear understanding of and commitment to confidentiality
  • Knowledge and understanding of issues pertaining to cultural diversity
  • Understanding of philosophies of victim services
  • Understanding of the Criminal Justice System
  • Understanding of Restorative Justice and alternative measures
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work well within the Agency as well as work co-operatively with community service providers
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to be non-judgemental and compassionate

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related social service discipline
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a professional team
  • Driver’s License
